Tiffany & Company life in 1837 as Tiffany & Young, named after founders Charles Tiffany and John Young. In the beginning, the store was located at 259 Broadway in New York City and dealt in stationery and fine goods. Tiffany & Young had an innovative (for the times) policy of giving each item a price tag and not bargaining over prices. That same year, Tiffany introduced the box in the distinctive shade of blue that would come to be known as “Tiffany blue.” Charles Tiffany took over the company in 1853 and renamed it Tiffany & Co. During this time period, Tiffany was known for its fine silver and even earned awards for the quality of its silverware. However, the jewelry portion of the business was gathering steam. [edit] Tiffany Diamonds
The company soon racked up many achievements with Tiffany jewelry, particularly its diamonds. In 1878 Charles Tiffany bought the Tiffany Diamond, one of the biggest and best yellow diamonds the world has ever seen. The original stone was cut to 128.51 carats with 90 facets. The diamond is displayed at our tiffany jewelry store to this day, so that Tiffany’s patrons can admire its unique beauty. Not long after, the company introduced an innovative diamond ring setting that has been copied the world over. Instead of setting the diamond into the band, Tiffany jewelers used six prongs to raise the diamond off the band. This showed the diamond off better and allowed it to catch more light. In 1887 Charles Tiffany obtained some of the crown jewels that had belonged to French royalty, earning him the nickname the “King of Diamonds.” [edit] Changing of the Guard
In 1902 Charles Tiffany’s son Louis Comfort Tiffany and co opened an art jewelry department in the company to create innovative, artistic jewelry designs and later became the firm’s artistic director upon the death of his father. With Louis at the helm, the company continued to prosper and make a name for itself. [edit] Expansion
In 1940 Tiffany & Co. moved to its famous building on 57th Street in New York City, where it remains to this day. It wasn’t until 1963 that Tiffany ventured outside of New York and opened a store in San Francisco. In 1972 the company opened its first international location in Japan, and in 1986 established a European presence with its London store. [edit] Tiffany Jewelry

Your decision of jewellery box is crucial. Whether you are purchasing for yourself or for a friend, jewellery boxes are something which should last more than a whole life. Put simply, you are purchasing something for which you could be remembered and championed for by your grandkids, and even your grandchildren’s grandchildren.
It is thus urgent to think about a jewellery box as an investment in your circle of relatives heritage, more than a birthday or Xmas present.
When to buy a Prestige Jewellery Box
It needn’t necessarily be a large jewellery box to begin with, and there are countless materials to think about in your decision. A wooden jewellery box, unless it is decorative and well decorated, can appear unvaluable so it is important, when attempting to find the right item, to think about what it is made from.
Most jewellery boxes are covered with soft, un-abrasive materials, that will not scratch your jewellery. Jewellery boxes are also handsome in themselves. A quality jewellery box is mostly home made from hard wood, lined with leather – nap or swede on the inside – and cunningly planned to showcase your jewelry in a stunning fashion. When storing your jewellery there is no substitute for a quality jewellery box.
boxes and jewellery cases. All can be made personal with initials or a name and all are a large amount more respected than normal wooden jewellery boxes.
So for my best advice, be sure to check out the wide range of prestige jewellery boxes at Smythson today, enjoy browsing their web shop, and select something special that will last for generations.
Remember that gold and platinum are soft materials, and that diamonds are one of the toughest substances known to occupy. If you store your jewellery in the same place your diamonds, rubies, and sapphires will scratch your valuable metals, as well as chip other, softer gems, for example emeralds.
You should store store your jewelry pieces apart. Many people like to store their jewelry in lock boxes, or at home, in the refrigerator. These are both poor decisions for jewelry storage. The dry atmosphere of a lock box can injure your dear jewelry, while the intense cold of a refrigerator can crack or shatter valuable gemstones.
Wash your silver jewelry with a particularly mild detergent and rub in smooth up and down lines after drying it with a soft cloth. For a few dollars you will have the polishing material that is employed by the experts. If you have let it go and not cleaned it for a good while then you might need to employ a soft brush and a more robust detergent and warm water, but don’t forget these are clearing away the dirt but they are abrasive too.
You can buy taint soaking up strips and cloths to place in the jewellery box and these work quite well.
Allways remember that your silver jewelry is soft and will, without doubt, scratch and become a little dull. Care for it by correct washing, reasonable wearing and correct storage. Take it to your jeweller for a buffing and polish occasionally to keep it at its peak. Jewellery is for wearing so like it by wearing it and look after it when you are not.
Choosing a prestige jewellery box wants attention. Like a home, you would like it to be of such top quality that it can pass thru the generations and be as helpful to your great grand-children as it is for you, or your loved one.

Making a beautiful and personalized jewellery box at home is not very difficult. There are many materials available out there which can be used to design a lovely box for storing all types of jewellery articles like necklaces, rings, bracelets, chains, hoop earrings, studs and dangling earrings. Some people prefer simple boxes with only one compartment, while others like to have dividers inside their boxes to store different jewellery articles in separate cubicles.
Those who are in the jewellery making business also need to design creative and attractive boxes and jewellery cases for their customers. In this article we will discuss different styles of jewellery containers and the materials that can be used for making an elegant and easy-to-make jewelry holder.
The simplest kind of a jewellery case is the one made from cardboard. Everybody has had the experience of working with cardboard at some point in their life. I remember learning to make small boxes of cardboard in the handwork class at school. These cute boxes in funky colors can be decorated with stamps, ribbons, laces and embellishments. If you want to make a box from wood, you will need to learn the basic woodworking techniques. Another option is to create fabric pouches made from velvet or other similar fabrics. These cases can also be adorned with different materials like stones, sequins, beads and crystals.
A personalized jewellery box can be made by using charms or engraving your name on a wooden box. Some people also use artwork prints or stamps to customize jewellery cases. You may need to buy a simple wooden or leather box and then paint it with different colors and patterns. Rubber stamping is a technique which is easy to use and very effective. There is a lot of information available online on wood engraving as well as rubber stamping that can be used to create lovely jewellery organizers at home.
In addition to sturdy jewellery organizers, people also try making fun jars at home to store jewellery articles. Such a jewellery box can be used as a decorative item and looks beautiful. All you need is an empty jar, acrylic paints, wrapping or pattern paper, ribbons or laces, and other embellishments that you like, such as handmade paper flowers, stickers, buttons, beads and brads, etc. These jars can be personalized in any way you like and can also make excellent gifts for all occasions. Other than jewellery, these jars can also be used to store stationary items and other belongings.
People also make treasure holders to use as jewellery cases. Such a jewellery box can be given any shape you like. Alternatively, you can use a pattern paper to give a theme to your beautiful box. Personalizing a jewellery case is easy and fun. You can start from scratch by working with raw materials or you can also have a pre-made jewellery case and then decorate it according to your taste and style. Working with laces, ribbons and other types of embellishments is easy and it can give a whole new look to an otherwise simple jewellery holder.
